RECENT NEWS and EVENTS:

The year 2006 ended with two major activities. The first took place on December 6 when the Club held its Annual Holiday Party at Goldie's Restaurant. Forty-seven Lions and their guests attended an evening of fun, awards and donations. A special presentation was given to Lion Tony Rizzotto who became the Club's latest recipient of a Melvin Jones Award. This award is the greatest tribute that can be bestowed upon a Lion for his outstanding contributions to Lionism. Guests brought gifts for a grab bag and also gifts to be presented to the residents of the local Nursing Home at Franklin Hospital in Valley Stream. The evening concluded with a raffle for special prizes given to the winners. The second major activity took place on Decmber 16 with the arrival of nearly 400 cases of oranges, grapefruit and tangerines. This successful Annual Fruit Sale, which has taken place for 25 years, has proven to be a great fund raiser for the Club.

CLUB ACTIVITIES:

Fruit Sale (Scholl): The Annual Fruit Sale is underway. The cost will remain the same as last year at $14 per case. Delivery is expected on December 16th.

Peace Poster Contest (Affronti): Entries were received from the Dever Ave. Elementary School. Judging took place at the Club's Nov. 1st meeting. Three winners were selected with the top honors going to Nicole Velez.

Holiday Party (Seipp): This annual event will take place on Wednesday, Dec. 6 at Goldies Restaurant. Spouses and guests are invited at a cost of $25 per person.

Thanksgiving Dinner (Scholl): Once again this year, the Valley Stream Lions Club will help the Peninsular Lions with their Thanksgiving Dinner for seniors. The dinner will be held at St. Joseph's Church in Hewlett.

Testimonial Dinner (Cafaro): Look for this event to take place during the month of January.
